Cider is a legendary drink with a long history in Hardanger. The Hardanger Cider from Ulvik is produced using old recepies but with modern methods.

The art of fruit cultivation came to the Hardanger
with the monks in the 11th century, and has since then
become a long tradition here in the district. Many of the farms in Hardanger have their own secret recipes of strong and good cider. So have we. We create authentic Hardanger Cider, produced with natural fermentation. Large amounts of  raw juice are put into large steel tanks of 2500 and 5000
litres for fermentation. In Springtime the cider is ready.

Authentic Hardanger Cider shall be produced with natural fermentation from the apple and no yeast added. It shall have a good smell of fresh apples when the bottle is opened, and be clear and a little sparkling when it is beeing poured into the glass; a pleasant drink!


Norwegian alcohol rules do not permit us to sell bottles of cider or apple brandy directly from the factory. It is only permitted to consume on site.
Hardanger Cider can be purchased / ordered in the liquor store (Vinmonopolet).

Hardanger Juice and Cider Factory uses special steel tanks for cider production. The apple juice is put to fermentation in autumn, and is ready to be put to bottles the following spring. The cider is to have a good smell of fresh apples when the bottle is opened, be clear and a little sparkling when it is beeing poured into the glass.

Hardanger Cider is a good welcome drink or apertif, but also good with food. It comes in three different types:Traditional, Sparkling and Kvasshovden. The first two a little sweater, and the last a little drier. The amount of alcohol is 9%.
